We were craving some good huevos rancheros so I went to the store specifically for ranchero sauce. Unfortunately, the ranchero sauce was very disappointing—chunky, thin, and dull. With some added tomato paste and hot pepper paste and a zip with the hand blender, we crafted our own makeshift ranchero sauce. Along with some cumin-seasoned onion and black beans, fried tortilla, over-easy eggs, cheese, and sour cream we assembled a heavenly breakfast food. The leftover sauce was frozen and has lasted us through several breakfasts, but we will have to attempt real ranchero sauce at some point. I also confirmed that I definitely prefer the runny egg yolk contribution to the dish after a few botched over-easy egg attempts.
